Climate change, low carbon futures, bio-diversity loss, energy transitions - increasingly businesses are required to show action towards a sustainable future and demonstrate leadership in tackling the difficult environmental problems facing the planet. It can be overwhelming to find the right place to start. A DETA Sustainability Action Assessment Tracker (SAAT) will help make sense of your current situation, and clear the path for implementing your sustainability strategy organisation-wide.
While DETA is primarily focused on environmental sustainability efforts for our clients, we recognise all three pillars of the ESG are vital to acknowledge when delivering sustainability solutions. For our Team to provide our clients with the highest quality service, we must create an environment where our DETA Team can thrive.
DETA prioritises health and safety, ensuring all team members work safely and return home each day. Our commitment includes robust safety guidelines and policies that are ingrained in our work culture. For instance, each team meeting features a dedicated section for discussing safety moments and sharing tips for preventing incidents.
In the DETA Offices we have weekly check-ins with all our staff, tracking their progress throughout the work week and wellbeing check-in questions related to their workload and stress levels.
DETA facilitates team members volunteering efforts. Everyone partakes in 16 hours of voluntary work every financial year.
DETA champions gender equality by offering flexible working conditions, inspired by the founders' experiences as new parents without flexible work options. Each team member at DETA has a personalised work schedule, allowing them to balance life and work effectively. This flexibility supports new mothers in continuing their careers and promotes a better work-life balance for all employees.
DETA’s strategic mission is to remove 2 million tCO2 emissions by 2030. But why the 2-million-ton figure? When our mission was set, 2 million tons was 25% of New Zealand's transport related emissions. This is a significant chunk of carbon equivalent emissions to be removing from the atmosphere by 2030. To achieve this goal, the DETA Team needs to continually grow to take on more projects, help more clients and increase our overall geographical scope.
