OECD Environmental Performance Reviews provide independent assessments of countries’ progress towards their environmental policy objectives. The OECD have completed 3 on NZ, the most recent of which is here. It’s a fairly comprehensive document, but to make a few key points, it is interesting to see how much we have improved since 2010 as a result of local and national government decisions. PM10 is down below WHO standards in all major centres (not according to MBIE though…) and we’ve done good things with our natural reserves. What is interesting is teh enormous step change we’ve signed up to, to achieve our 2020 GHG reduction pledge. We’re going to need an almost vertical line soon!
