Renewable Options Project

PROBLEM

Trinity Apartments central apartment building in Auckland was looking at options to reduce their energy costs. Energy costs are mainly electricity, therefore, having an renewable energy option was sought after.

SOLUTION

DETA led an investigation into installing a 10 kW PV array on top of the central apartment building. The scope included feasibility study, full design, project business case and tender for potential contractors.

OUTCOME

Several small PV array's to provide a portion of the landlord supply load was found to be the most cost effective option. This option had an annual cost reduction of $3,360, with a payback period of 8.51 years.
