As part of investigations across 7 Alliance Meat Processing sites, DETA identified that steriliser hot water usage was more than double what it needed to be. At Alliance Levin, we implemented a project to reduce flow, as well as recover additional heat from a rendering plant and improve pumping performance.
Alliance Group Levin
Hot Water System Upgrade
DETA undertook a level 2 energy audit at Alliance's Levin site. Through the audit, we identified that the site was consuming twice as much steriliser water as was required.
We developed a project, using Alliance's capex process, to both reduce the flow of the sterilisers and improve the heat recovery system at site. As part of this, we also included flow metering so that the hot water consumption could be managed and monitored.
We developed a project, using Alliance's capex process, to both reduce the flow of the sterilisers and improve the heat recovery system at site. Thanks to the short payback, we also included upgrades to the hot water system, such as lining a hot water tank, to make the system more robust and reduce ongoing maintenance costs.
